Week 14 Preview

by Alyssa Morris

JACKSONVILLE, FL – After a week off, Jacksonville (7-2) will return to action in the first of two back-to-back games against in-state rival Orlando (4-5) on July 8th at the Amway Center. Both teams are fighting for important playoff positioning as the regular season enters its final month.

The Predators beat the Sharks at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena during week four. Jenson Stoshak led the Sharks with five touchdowns and 140 receiving yards. However, his effort was not enough to guarantee Jacksonville its first home win. A last-minute Jacksonville touchdown but failed two-point conversion gave Orlando the 61-60 victory at the Tank.

On June 26th, the Sharks welcomed the Carolina Cobras to Jacksonville, winning 61-52, giving the Sharks a little breathing room in the standings. Quarterback Sam Castronova threw six touchdowns, scored two rushing, and threw for 234 yards. Kamrin Solomon scored four touchdowns: three receiving and one kickoff return.

After his success two weeks ago, Marquel Wade was named Ironman Player of the Week. He had 53 receiving yards and a touchdown. He recorded an interception on defense that led to a key Jacksonville touchdown.

Last week at the Amway Center, the Predators took down the first-place team, the San Antonio Gunslingers, in impressive fashion, 52-33. Darius Prince scored three touchdowns for Orlando, helping lead the team to the win.

Three Predators took home Player of the Week honors. Darius Prince was named Offensive Player of the Week, Dwayne Hollis, Defensive Player of the Week, and Trevon Shorts, Ironman Player of the Week.

With the loss, the Gunslingers drop to 8-2, making this week’s game even more critical for the second-place Sharks.

This week’s game at the Amway Center will start at 7 p.m.

The Sharks will return home for a rematch against the Predators on July 15th. The theme night is Halloween in July, so dress to impress! To purchase tickets, visit www.jaxsharks.com or call 904-621-0700.
