JACKSONVILLE – The National Arena League defending champions announced today that two Sharks players won weekly league awards for players of the week due to their week 6 performance against the Orlando Predators. Sharks receiver Devin Wilson collects his first weekly honor for 2021 season as he was named the Week 6 NAL Offensive Player of the Week while Jacksonville’s defensive back Kenny Veal takes home the Week 6 NAL Defensive Player of the Week award, his first of the year as well.

Friday night, Sharks star receiver Devin Wilson led the team with nine catches for 138 yards and four touchdowns against the Predators which was his season high for receiving touchdowns in 2021.  Wilson is a back to back first team All-NAL receiver (2018,2019) and is on pace to collect his third All-NAL honor in 2021. This season Wilson is third in the league for receiving yards with an average of 85 yards per game and is also third in the league for receiving touchdowns with nine.

In his second game as a Shark, defensive back Kenny Veal continues to have lights out performances on defense gaining two interceptions and two pass breakups against the Orlando Predators. Veal now has three interceptions this season with plenty of games left to make a run for an All-NAL season.

This week the Sharks will travel to Greensboro, NC to play the Carolina Cobras (1-3) in the Greensboro Coliseum. The last time the Sharks played the Cobras was the championship game in 2019 where the Sharks pulled ahead 52-48 it was deemed the most exciting championship game in league’s three-year history.
