Jacksonville Wins Big In Front of Large Home Crowd

JACKSONVILLE, FL - It was an out of this world night at the Shark Tank as 7,800 Sharks fans packed into the Shark Tank for a major game with the NAL playoffs around the corner. The #1 Carolina Cobras entered Duval expecting to defeat the #3 Sharks but were shocked to end the first quarter down 18-0. As the Sharks defense shut down the league leading Cobras then with an Arvell Nelson rushing touchdown, a receiving touchdown by Devin Wilson, and the kicker Nick Belcher added two deuces in the 1st quarter as the Sharks looked to overpower the Cobras early in this one.

Into the second quarter, WR/DB Kamrin Solomon got his second interception of the night, killing a Cobras drive and assisting the Sharks to another score as Jacksonville ran their second touchdown of the night. This time by FB/LB Anthony Johnson to give the Sharks the 24-0 lead. The Cobras could not get their offense going while the Sharks continued to pile on points as kicker Nick Belcher kicked a field goal to add three more points while WR/DB Kamrin Solomon rushed in a touchdown to score. Cobras WR/LB DJ Myers snatched his own touchdown giving Carolina their only score of the half as Jacksonville entered the locker room 34-7 with a ROARING crowd behind them in a near 1st half shut out.

The Cobras struck back in the second half  with a touchdown thrown by quarterback Malik Henry. Jacksonville kicked off the second half extending their lead with an Arvell Nelson touchdown pass to receiver Milton Williams to give the Sharks 41-7. Attempting to make a comeback, Carolina scored on their next drive with a long touchdown pass caught in the endzone by receiver Kendrick Ings. However, the Cobras' attempt for a come back never seemed to take off as the Sharks remain the dominant force on the field as the offense continued to overpower Carolina as FB/LB Anthony Johnson scored his second rushing touchdown of the night putting the Sharks ahead 48-13.

Following another Sharks defensive stop Jacksonville scored with a receiving touchdown by Jacksonville’s Rob Jones 55-13. Following a Cobras touchdown, Sharks LB/FB Quayvon Hicks returned an onside kick attempt for a score and a kick by Nick Belcher gave the fans more to cheer for with his third deuce of the night. The fans swarmed the arena tonight with over 7,800 strong in the arena as the now 7-5 Sharks took down the 8-4 Cobras in week 12. Leaders for tonight include WR/DB Kamrin Solomon who had three receptions for three touchdowns on offense and on defense Solomon picked up three tackles, two pass breakups, and two interceptions. FB/LB Anthony rushed for two touchdowns. The homecoming for kicker Nick Belcher was a hit, as he had a season high three deuces and was 6 for 8 on extra points and was 1 for 1 on field goals.

Jacksonville now will hit the road for their week 13 matchup against the San Antonio Gunslingers (3-7) on Saturday, July 16. If the Sharks continue to win and Albany manages a loss between the next two weeks, Jacksonville could lock-in the #2 spot in the NAL standings delivering Duval a home playoff game. Fans can watch next week's game live on the NAL YouTube Channel, also the team will have a Sharks Dicks Wings Watch Party as we will announce the location on social media during the week.
