JACKSONVILLE, FL- The Jacksonville Sharks are proud to announce the signing of three rookies Jawain “J.D.” Granger, B.J. Smith, and Brion Murray. Three young skill players who are hungry to compete in training camp, and ready to make an immediate impact in the Indoor Football League.

J.D. Granger defensive back from Delaware State University was named to the 2021 Black College Player of The Year list and is also a two-time All-MEAC performer (2021,2022). He finished his career with Delaware State appearing in 35 games with 70 tackles, 29 pass deflections, 4 interceptions, 2 sacks and 1 forced fumble. In high school, Granger was also named Caravels Academy's Player of the Year for his outstanding play on the field.

B.J. Smith running back from Troy University was named 2018 All Sun Belt First Team and the 2019 Preseason Offensive Player of the Year. During his tenure at Troy he tallied up 2200 yards rushing, 500 yards receiving, and 23 touchdowns on the ground. Smith is a unique signing for the Sharks. In the IFL, the use of a true running back is part of the transition the Sharks have to make in their inaugural season.

Defensive back Brion Murray from Virginia Tech tallied 43 tackles, 11 pass deflections, 3 interceptions and 1 sack in his college career. Before Virginia Tech, Murray played football at Coffeyville Community College where he was named ALL-KJCCC Honorable Mention selection (2018).
