Sharks Re-sign Veteran LB Anthony Johnson

JACKSONVILLE,FL- The Jacksonville Sharks are proud to announce the return of the talented LB Anthony Johnson. This will be Johnson’s third season as a Shark, bringing veteran leadership along with his big play ability. 

Prior to joining the Sharks, Johnson played the 2020 season in the XFL where he was a defensive lineman for the Seattle Dragons. During his time in the XFL, he recorded nine tackles and a sack. Johnson spent his college career at Florida International University where he played in over 41 games for the Panthers amassing a career total of 40 tackles (6.5 for a loss), 3.5 sacks, and three pass breakups as a defensive lineman. During his senior season, he was awarded All-Conference USA Honorable Mention and he helped FIU to a 9-4 record and a Makers Wanted Bahama Bowl Victory against Toledo. 

As a Shark, Johnson has posted numbers the past two years on both sides of the ball, proving to be a true Ironman. Defensively, Johnson had 34 tackles, 10.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and one touchdown. On the offensive side of the ball, he posted 157 yards rushing and 136 yards receiving to go along with eight touchdowns.
