Sharks Bring Back Special Teams Player of the Year

by Alyssa Morris

JACKSONVILLE, FL – Sharks signed kicker Nick Belcher this week. Belcher originally signed with the team in December 2016 and has played several times for Jacksonville throughout the seasons.

Belcher was a vital member of the historic 2017 season for Jacksonville. He was one of a few members of the NAL Championship-winning Sharks to receive first-team NAL honors. To add to that accolade, Belcher was named Special Teams Player of the Year.

During the 2017 season, Belcher led the way in scoring for all kickers with 134 points, along with an 85% extra point completion percentage.

He also spent time with the Carolina Cobras in-between stints with Jacksonville.

The kicker last played for the Sharks in 2022, making his first appearance during week 12. He was brought in with the hope of ending the revolving door of kickers, which Jacksonville is expecting he can do this season too.

He attended South Carolina State University. In 2013 he hit 70% of his field goals. His longest was 49 yards.
