Sharks Add Defensive Back Ahmond Gomez

Jacksonville Stocks Up on Secondary

JACKSONVILLE, FL – The Jacksonville Sharks announce today the signing of rookie defensive back Ahmond Gomez who signs for his first year of arena football. 

Gomez (6’1, 180) played free safety for Chowan University, a division II school in Murfreesboro, NC. During his playing career in college he played in 26 games for the hawks where he amassed 78 tackles in three seasons including 41 his senior year. Gomez also compiled 16 pass breakups, five interceptions, and one forced fumble. Prior to Chowan University Gomez played for Central Connecticut State where he spent his freshman & sophomore seasons as a cornerback. During his two seasons at Central Connecticut he played in five games with a total of three tackles, one pass breakup, and one interception. 

Ahmond Gomez is native of Norwich, CT and played for New London High School. Gomez played both defensive back and running back. During his senior year he recorded 38 tackles, averaging 3.8 tackles per game and three touchdowns. Gomez was also a dual sport athlete playing both varsity football and basketball.
