QB Conor Blount Returns to the Sharks

by Dexter Jackson

JACKSONVILLE, FL- The Jacksonville Sharks continue to build their roster with the signing of Quarterback Conor Blount. This will be Blount’s second season with the Sharks. Unfortunately his rookie season was cut short when he went down with a season-ending injury in Week 4 of the NAL's 2023 season. After scrambling on a play, Blount was tackled hard into the wall, ending his season just when it seemed he was becoming a star in the league. Blount looks to pick up where left off for the Sharks this upcoming season.

Conor Blount began his collegiate career at Oregon State as a walk on his freshman year and earned a scholarship by his second season where he redshirted. His junior year Blount started six of the first seven games of the season and played in nine games. He completed 62 percent of his passes (95-of-153) with just two interceptions, 1,117 yards and 7 touchdowns. He then transferred to Eastern Kentucky to finish his collegiate career.

Conor Blount started his first arena season strong. He threw for 886 yards in his four games, which led the league, along with 19 touchdowns. His rushing abilities were impressive as well. He had 131 rushing yards on ten attempts in those games, scoring two rushing touchdowns. Blount threw seven touchdown passes in his season debut against the West Texas Warbirds. The rookie did not struggle with the changes arena football can bring. The Sharks look for him to continue his success as they move into the IFL where a dual threat quarterback is a great advantage in the run game.
