NAL Champ Ready to Work Toward Ring No. 2

JACKSONVILLE – The 2019 National Arena League Champion Jacksonville Sharks announced today the signing of Offensive Lineman Mike Williams (6’5,330) who signs for his second season of arena football and second year with the Sharks. Williams is the first offensive lineman from the 2019 NAL Champions roster to re-sign with Jacksonville under Head Coach James Fuller. Williams served as a starter on the undisputed best line in the NAL, giving up only 11 sacks in 14 games. To put that in perspective the next closest team was Carolina who allowed twice as many sacks on the year (22) while Sharks rival the Orlando Predators allowed more than four times that amount with 46 sacks that season. There is no question that the Sharks big three up front were pivotal for the Sharks 15-1 championship record. Williams' role in the Sharks offensive line helped pave the way for Jacksonville’s running game that led the league with 298 rushing yards and 25 rushing touchdowns. Williams also caught two passes for 17 yards and was the only rookie offensive lineman on the championship roster, his return brings not only young talent back to the Sharks front line but strength for another potential championship bound Sharks team.

Williams finished his college career at Jacksonville University totaling 24 tackles and two sacks on the Dolphins defensive line. He also played for Villanova from 2013-2016. Williams is a native of Woodlawn, MD attended Archbishop Spalding High School. He earned First Team All-State and played in the Chesapeake Bowl.
