Jacksonville Sharks Re-Sign Wide Receiver Damien McGhee
Local Trinity Christian Academy Star Continues Career with Sharks
JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville Sharks announced today the signing of local wide receiver Damien McGhee who begins his second season with the Sharks and second season in the NAL.
McGhee (6’1, 215) served as a reserve player but did see action in two games during the 2021 season including a start against the Orlando Predators. Heading into 2022 he will enter his second training camp now under head coach Siaha Burley where he will compete for a spot on the 2022 Jacksonville Sharks roster. McGhee finished his college career at Florida Tech where he played in 10 games recording 26 catches for 302 yards and three touchdowns for the Panthers. Prior to Florida Tech, McGhee played for Presbyterian College, a Division I (FCS) in Clinton, SC. During his time at Presbyterian he played in 21 games catching 15 receptions for 224 yards and scoring two touchdowns. This included a 70 yard receiving touchdown against Campbell College.
Damien McGhee is a local player from Jacksonville, FL he played high school football at Trinity Christian Academy where he was a star receiver who amassed 1,500 receiving yards and 19 touchdowns during his high school career. Half of his touchdowns came during his standout senior season where he recorded 24 catches for 600 yards and eight touchdowns to wrap up his days at Trinity Christian. He was a All-State Honorable mention in football and received an invitation to the IMG Academy regional 7 on 7 tournament. McGhee also played varsity basketball for Trinity Christian Academy.
