Ironman Lineman Gibril Ghee Returns to Jacksonville

Veteran Center / Nose Guard Looks to Lead Sharks in the Trenches

JACKSONVILLE, FL- The Jacksonville Sharks announce the signing of offensive / defensive lineman Gibril Ghee. The veteran center and nose guard returns for his second season with the Sharks. Coach Gibson's decision to bring Ghee back is huge for the team’s core strength on both sides of the trenches and key to success on the turf. “We are excited to have Gibril return to the Sharks. Signing a top tier Center was a priority for us and he is the best in the NAL.” Said Sharks Head Coach Jason Gibson.

Ghee’s 2022 campaign was a success in Jacksonville. He served as an ironman lineman playing both ways for the Sharks in all 14 games. On defense, Gibril Ghee recorded four tackles, one sack, and one pass breakup. Ghee and the Sharks offensive line won many battles in the trenches as the Sharks led the NAL in 2022 in rushing touchdowns with 24. Ghee and the Sharks offensive led Jacksonville to a 346 rushing yard season (3rd-Most in the NAL).

Gibril spent his rookie season with the Green Bay Blizzard of the Indoor Football League (IFL). During his season with the Blizzard, Green Bay averaged 55 rushing yards a game and 14 rushing touchdowns. The Blizzard also were one of the fewest sacked teams in the IFL in 2021.

Ghee spent his college career at Hampton University where he played in 29 games including 12 as a senior and 10 as a junior. During his last season with the Pirates he helped Hampton to 407 yards of offense per game and the team’s first 1,000 yard running back since 2012. He ended his college career as a First Team All-Big South Offensive Lineman. Ghee is a Georgia native who played for Berkmar High School in Lilburn, GA. During his high school career he played guard for the Patriots seeing varsity action as early as his freshman year.
